The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Hobbitul: O calatorie neasteptata) are acţiunea plasată undeva în Middle Earth, cu 60 de ani înainte de „The Lord of the Rings”, când hobbit-ul Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) pleacă într-o epică aventură de recuperare a Regatul Erebor din ghiarele îngrozitorului dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch).
Aparent neajutoratul Bilbo va trebui să înfrunte o mulţime de pericole, dar va pune mâna între timp şi pe fantasticul Inel al puterii, cel în jurul căruia se dau atâtea lupte în trilogia „Lord of the Rings”.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey are o distribuţie formată din Cate Blanchett, Luke Evans, Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Orlando Bloom, Stephen Fry, Christopher Lee, Evangeline Lilly, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Ian Holm şi Lee Pace.
Regizat de Peter Jackson („The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”, „The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”, „The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”, „King Kong”), după un scenariu scris de Fran Walsh, „The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” va ajunge în cinematografele din România începând cu 14 decembrie 2012.
